The Z/28 will be equipped with a 6-speed manual
and auto transmission which it shares with the
CTS-V.The CTS-V, which weighs 4,300 lb can
sprint from 0-60mph in just 4.1 seconds, finish
the quarter-mile in 12.3 seconds (in auto) or
12.4 seconds (in manual). The maximum speed
attained is 175mph in the automatic, while the
manual gets a 193mph maximum speed. The Z/28
will weigh about 200 to 300 lb less than the CTS-V
enough reason to improve acceleration rate from
0-60mph in just 3.9 seconds and may finish the
quarter-mile in the low 12 seconds.
This would
mean that the Z/28 could be the quickest Chevy
since the famous ZL-1-powered COPO 9560 Camaro
made around 40 years ago. However, because GM is
currently tight on cash, the Z/28 is on hold.
Another problem facing the Z/28 is whether is
will make business sense, considering the
current circumstances, to build and sell a super-fast,
super potent two-door Chevy coupe that cannot
better 13-19mpg. There are mixed signals in the
company, however, since there are those who are
pushing the Z/28 to the forefront with ideas of
a limited production run coupled with a price
tag that will ensure profitability.
